Co-founders of ILT, Aarti Sharma and Pallav Goel share their experience of visiting the Queen of hills. Mussoorie is a destination that is the perfect summer weekend getaway from Delhi. If you like this story see more on our Instagram. Hope you enjoy this real travel story!
Their experience in their words:
The month of June in Northern India and sweltering summer, trying to get some relief from the scorching sun, aren’t we? Our next addition to the weekend getaway series is so summer appropriate. Located in the state of Uttarakhand, Mussoorie is a hill station which has been called the Queen of hills!
Most preferred way of reaching this destination is all the way by road while adoring the beauty of the mountainous rides. Alternatively you can choose the railways which reaches the nearby town of Dehradun from where you can start the car journey. Mussoorie is quite hyped and popular as a hill station and is also most likely to be flooded by people in the summer months. Some people may argue that the commercialization of this place is leading to it losing its charm, but we say you can still enjoy many scenic locations in the midst of nature’s glory away from the heat. The most talked about Mall road, Kempty falls, Gun hill and ancient temples are a few tourist attractions that are highly popular.
We recommends soaking in the picturesque beauty of this destination. The mischievous mist crossing subtly over the lush greens and flora every now and then is a spectacular sight which you will witness a lot here. The magnificence of the hills and the feeling of walking with the clouds will leave you feeling elated and rejoiced.
Along with the above mentioned brief description, here are images of what awaits you on your visit. Travel inspiration from photographs snapped around Mussoorie and from the terrace of Jaypee Residency Manor hotel. Jaypee manor is located on a much higher altitude than other hotels, which gives you the best of both worlds, luxury and opulence of the hotel along with breathtaking views of the mountains.
